Max,
I did the overland Bk - Cambodia route last summer and I do NOT recommend it! It is a huge scam, you get left at the shithole cambodian border for 3 hours, a very uncomfortable ride and they will expect you to stay at the guest house they take you to at the end. DESPITE the fact that there may be cockroaches crawling on the beds, walls, floors, sink etc. This happened to me, and trust me - when you are facing 20 Cambodian men who have suddenly changed their attitude from "your choice" to "why don't you want to stay here???" you will not be feeling so adventurous.

Seriously, avoid the KSR scams that book the buses. It is worth it to fly. If you are looking for more information about the bus scam, check out www.redlodge.com. The Red Lodge is absolutely the only place I'd stay in Siem Reap - and apparently they also arrange transportation from BK to SR. Can't testify as to what it's like (same shitty roads, same flying out of your seat experience) but I would trust them.

Good luck.

Heather

ps- Angkor is really amazing... totally worth the hundreds of dollars you will spend in the country.

Hi keter,

I went to Cambodia in last month by ground.

1. you can buy ticket from Khaosand road. in Bangkok around 400-1000 bath Bkk-thailand border-Siem reap.

2. take bus from Mo-chit to bus station border 150-200 bath and then take Tuk tuk 50bath to border

If you pass custome and everything you will see a lot of Taxi (Toyoto Camry) the price should be 900-1200bath no more that. I paid 1000bath to get to Siem reap for 2 pax.

The road from thailand border to Siem reap is so bad. you will take 3-4 hour to get there (150km).

i stayed in Wat Bo Road. they have a lot of guesthouse. if you don't have much heavy thing you can walk in and find the price you want.

to travel around they i recommend Tuk Tuk is the best if you want to go to Angkor wat and Angkor tom. Last time Mr. Suwan he took care me he is Tuk Tuk driver. good man and nice i paid 8 us for mini tour and 15 for big tour. 855-012-430994 is his no.
