UMM!!!
James, I though that all people who contribute to this thread, at least have some interest, in learning about environmental issues.

I've been reading through the posts in this thread. Noone has pointed out that the temperature of the world naturally fluctuates - we are presently in the midst of a period of warming within an Ice Age. That's right, we are still in an Ice Age - there isn't "normally" masses of ice over the polar caps.

Furthermore, the arrogance of some people astounds me - do people really think that we (the human race) are that powerful that we can actually alter the future of the earth so substantially? The world will continue to exist when we are long gone and in, say, a million years, there will probably not be a lot of evidence that we were ever here.

I think the whole debate over Global Warming has been blown out of all proportion.

The earth does not require our help.

I'm simply stating that I have no interest whatsoever. I can make that statement in this thread.

Actually, I personally believe that all rainforests should be cut down and replaced with factories. The trees should be turned into disposable chopsticks.

People should be financially rewared for leaving ever light bulb on in their house, and for driving a V8 four wheel drive.

It should be an offence not to have air conditioning, and it should be mandatory to leave it on when leaving the house.

That's just the start.

The air conditioning should be powered by V8 motors. I am with you on the cutting down the forests - that would solve the unemployment problem in the third world countries. And think of all the furniture you could make with that wood.
Oh, and we should chlorine the oceans, there's too much weird stuff floating around in there, it's unhygienic! Turn them into a giant swimming pool!

I agree - we're not saving the earth so much as saving ourselves. I think that's a more powerful and convincing argument to get everyone to do their part to keep the place clean.

Shouldnt we preserve it, for as long as possible?
We are leaving future generations here. ;)

I suppose, this is the reaction, that fear brings out, in some people.
We all respond, in different ways.

Fear? Fear of what?

Nostradamus made predictions of World War 3 in the year 2085 so there's no environmental issue.

We can all sleep easy
