Where do you get your inspiration for your travels?
Is it from seeing pictures in glossy magazines?
From seeing offers in the travel agent's window?
From hearing the tales of others who have traveled?
From the internet? Or from somewhere else?

What inspires you to travel?

Mostly from glossy magazines, travel brochures and travel TV shows.

Cant really remember what first inspired me to travel....but these days, I read Wanderlust quite a lot and there's always somewhere new I want to visit by the end of each issue :)

Also, talking to other travellers and hearing what they've done is great fuel for that burning desire.

I guess the first time I travelled my inspiration came from many things such as family and friends who travel, travel programs & movies.

Now I get my inspiration when I think about my previous travels or when I'm with friends who I have travelled with and we laugh and talk about the great times we had and the things we did.

My main Travel inspirations came from

Ray Mears - a Bush craft pro , hes always travelling meeting new people and is a master of knowledge preserving some of the most endangered tribes & cultures in the world .

And watching David attenborough wildlife programs.

Ive never really met anyone who went backpacking untill i acctually arrived in sydney with my backpack so my inpirations grew from there from a german chap i met in mildura { victoria } in oz his name was martin he was what i would refer to as a hardcore traveller hippi clothed, hitchhiker, vegatable eating, buddist , smoker , 21 years old he had travelled extensivly for a few years into countries i would never have dreamed of visiting at the time .

recently wanderlust magazine has been my inspiration - every time a new issue comes out I add a few more places to my list! I also read a lot of travel books which can be inspiring. and the more you travel the more you want to :)

Im going on my first rtw trip in 10 weeks time, and besides all of the obivious answers for inspiration, i found that been stuck in the same job for 9 years and to have a wanker of a boss inspired me to take 3 months off

My parents were travellers, and took us on many trips around Canada and the U.S. We also moved from city to city, province to province, when I was growing up, so I never had any strong attachment to any one place. I guess travelling is just something that comes naturally. A lot of us expats living overseas are like that: army brats, MIKs (missionary kids), children of hippies, etc., who grew up on the road.

Oh, and National Geographic magazine. ;)
