Have just been reading a bit on how expensive europe can be. AM planning to start in asia, Thailand and Laos, and then head to the UK for xmas, then maybe south to avoid the cold but not really sure. I'm pretty good at budgeting and was hoping i could make $10 000 last the whole 12 mths. What do you think? Any tips on ways to make it stretch that little bit further?
Well im taking that much too and im sure it will be enough. friends of mine are going with only about 6,000 or 7,000!!!
just buy everything from supermarkets and dont eat out!
also try and stay with as many people as you possibly can!
anyone got a floor/bed for 2 aussie chicks?
I think that is enough, well I hope it is for my sake as well. I will be going to Asia, Europe and Sth America for a year RTW, my first such long trip. I think Asia and Sth America are quite cheap to travel, at least much cheaper than Europe. Staying with friends and family also helps a lot. Staying in hostels rather than hotels where you can saves a fortune. Eating in not so fancy places or even cooking cuts costs and also cooking for yourself is a much healthier alternative as you know better what exactly you are eating. Hitchhiking and traveling by bus also saves money. But many countries have low fare airlines and they are worth a look (eg. ryanair.com and easyjet.com in Europe).
Hope you have a great trip!!
