I had one experience about drinking alcohol in the plane. I was the last person to pick up my baggages and because we stopped over in Atlanta waiting for our flight that would take us to Florida. I cant stop myself from sleeping the whole time at the plane(half asleep though), and continued my sleep at the waiting seats for aboard.

But i must say, i feel really rested after splashing some cold water on my face :) Just a funny experience about alcohol.. i should say, no more alcohol during travel :)

Hello Nick:)

What u get, on the flight, varies from airline to airline.
However, these days with most airlines free alcoholic drinks are a thing of the past.
Not all airlines give food, these days either. Some dont even serve coffee. But with longhaul flights, there is usually some food and non alcoholic drinks.

Really, what's the purpose of getting plastered on a flight anyway? Sure free drinks are good but if you take advantage and get piss drunk, you deserve what you get. Haha I probably sound like a prick right now

Plastered....no, but pleasantly tipsy as to alleviate some of the boredom/pain of a long coach flight, yes! Not to mention it's much easier to fall asleep with a few drinks in you.

With the exception of low-cost carriers and charters I haven't been on long-haul flight ever that hasn't offered free booze: BA, Virgin, Emirates, Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Dragonair, China Southern all definitely do.

My girlfriend who is a travel agent says that it unusual not to get free alcohol.

What long haul airline only offers non alcoholic drinks? I'm truly curious Mel.

Unless you've paid for premium class, Zoom airlines and Air Transat here only give you a small bottle of wine with supper on long-haul trips. You have to pay for the rest - about $4 US or $5 Canadian, if I remember right.

I've never had problems with not being served free alcohol on long-haul flights. I thought it was a given. Haven't had problems with free booze on the following airlines: Singapore Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, Asiana Airlines, KLM, Malaysian Airlines. Don't remember if Gulf Air offered, though. But I usually have about a couple of reds or whites (depending on the variety they have). No complaints from the stewardesses or anything.

I mean, just don't keep asking for alcohol non-stop...

I think carries from the Middle East do not serve alcohol at all as they are of Muslem faith and alcohol is banned.

lag.

Gulf Air, Etihad, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Oman Air all serve alcohol on their flights and its free! The crew are usually very generous with the booze too, as its not everyone that is drinkking it.

Etihad, Emirates and Qatar Airways also have the old style travel packs they give away too, tooth brushes, socks etc in economy, their meal services just go on! I have to say, as the topic is "what you get" I think you get more with these three airlines than I have ever had with any others....

Lan Airlines, British Airways, Aer Lingus, Air New Zealand and Qantus all serve free alcohol on their longhauls. I've never pushed it too far though so i dont know if there's actually a point where they would stop you and say "Right now, you've had enough, hand over the cash please"

If you fly first class though, that's just hilarious. They just keep shoving free drink down your throat!!
