Travel Forums Europe What are some nice places to see in Liverpool?

Hello,

If anyone has been to Liverpool, please share some of the must-visits in the city. Also, what places would you visit if you are on a budget!

Their local tourist website lists sooo many places, but not all look very interesting.

Is it true that Liverpool is famous for its nightlife?

Cheers.

Hi Mel...

IF you are visiting Liverpool the best place to visit is about 30 miles down the motorway, it is a must and is called Manchester!!

I believe they have a regular bus service from Liverpoool airport to MAnchester.

Here you can see lots. We have the Arndale centre, one of the biggest indoor shopping centres in Europe. We have the Trafford centre, another large shopping centre just outside the centre.

We have a number of museums; Manchester Science and Industry Museum, MAnchester Museum and we also have an Art Gallery.

We have the biggest football club in the world MANCHESTER UTD and another not so significant one, MAnchester City, but they do have a nice stadium.

We have many restauants; China town, Curry mile and numerous others scattered thoughout the city.

And yeah, we have many bars and clubs too.

Hope this helps you on how to best spend you time to Liverpool

ON A SERIOUS NOTE. Liverpool is a nice city to visit. I have never explored the city, but they do have a vibrant night life, worth a visit!

The have many shops and a nice waterfront, known as the Docks.

They have a safari park too, not so far away, KNOWSLEY SAFARI PARK, thats worth a visit if you have the time.

Enjoyy:)

I was in Liverpool a couple of years ago, and I think the Albert Dock is worth a visit. I really liked this place, it's nothing sensational, but still a bit different from what i'm used to. If you like music, the Beatle's museum is around the place.

Mathew Street is legendary already isn't it..? Go downstairs in The Cavern for a cold pint.

first time I was there they told me it's the only english city that's got two cathedrals. I guess it's true. They're not very special, but seeing they've got two I guess you should take the time to visit them.

Hi Mel

Liverpool does indeed have a great nightlife scene, loads of bars clubs and venues and there are always bands playing everynight. There is also a lot to do and see. You can go to the top of the anglican cathedral for great panoramic views. The docks are nice. If you like the beatles then there is just so much beatle stuff to see. Try the beatles story or the cavern. Just outside the city is Lark Lane which has loads of bars and restaurants and is next to Sefton park which is a great place to chill out. Liverpool is in the middle of being completely redesigned so with all the building going on there is new stuff opening up all the time. try some of the better bars like Ye Crack, Lagos, Pogues, the Pilgrim, Heebeejeebees, The Magnet, The Phillarmonic to name a few and i would suggest staying away from Concert Square which is like the main touristy area for bars as it is overpriced and full of pissed up idiots.

Hope you enjoy your time in Liverpool.

Hello Melpunk,

The Albert Dock and the Tate Liverpool are worth seeing but Liverpool is really more about atmosphere and nightlife than things to visit.
If you like old stones I suggest you take a daytrip to Chester, which is really lovely.

Cheers

That's really weird - I'm visiting friends just outside of Liverpool at the moment; yesterday I was in Liverpool and today I took a day trip to Chester.

Check out the Albert Dock. Great for just walking around.

It's Liverpool, nothing worth seeing except the trainstation ;) Want an exciting city, try Manchester, or better yet head way up north to Edinburgh.

Thanks all for the helpful tips!

Actually I've been in Liverpool for a month already, and have visited some of the places mentioned, like Albert Dock, the cathedrals, and went out clubbing one night where I found very cheap tequila at just a pound a shot! I like. Was just wondering if I might have missed out any other worthy visits.

Mancunion: I was in Manchester last week for a day trip, and unfortunately the city wasn't as fun as you made it out to be!! Heard there's a roller-skating disco there now though, would like to try out some old school skating moves. HA!

bwiiian: You seem to know a lot. Are you a Liverpudlian?

And I'm definitely visiting Chester. A nice Welsh gentleman I sat next to on the airplane from Singapore strongly recommended it. :)
