My name is David and im planning a USA trip with my 2 friends! We
have the tour all sorted out and I was wondering if there is anyone in the major cities that we will visit that would like to show us around! It would be awsome as we dont know much about the cities we will visit!
The cities are New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Orlando, Miami, New Orleans, Houston, Albaqurqe (or however its spelled xD ), Los Angleles and San Fransisco.
Well maybe I should write something about who we are ^^
As I said earlier we are 3 dudes (isnt that the right term =P ) from Stockholm, Sweden! Ages 21,21 and 20. And we would love if someone would maybe show us around, or give directions on what to see, where to eat, where to party etc etc. We will be going by Greyhound Bus ( YES we are hardcore ) and will probably stay a few nights in each city.
If there is a possibility, we are also interested in any kinds of accommodation that is to offer. We are planning hostels and cheap hotels but if there is someone that has a room to spare etc etc we would love to rent for a symbolical sum, or we can cook you dinner or something ^^. But any help is very appreciated.
If theres anything you want to know about us, what kind of people we are, I think we are a funny bunch that loves life, dont hecitate to send me an email.
Just a closing question! Is it 21 on all pubs/clubs/discos in all of USA? Or can we go partying, we love to dance xD, with one of us being 20?
Thanks for all help, im looking forward hearing from you soon and possibly meet you!
David, Mattias and Kristian
Hi! I'd love to show you around San Francisco. When are you planning to be in SF? I won't be around after July (moving to Switzerland to be an au pair). If you're coming before that, though, I would be happy to play the tour guide. Although I live a half hour train ride from the city now, I was born there and spend lots of time enjoying all San Francisco has to offer. It's a great city and I'm sure you'll have a great time, whenever it is that you come.
As for your question about under 21 clubs, I think yes there are many, especially music clubs. You can check them out here: http://sanfrancisco.citysearch.com/yellowpages/results/San_Francisco_CA/page1.html?flavor_id=5&cw2=34. Also depending on what bands are there during your time, I love going to hear concerts at the Filmore, it's a great venue. http://www.livenation.com/venue/getVenue/venueId/1259
Another sight with lots of San Francisco events is http://www.onlyinsanfrancisco.com/what_to_do/directory.asp?mbc=festivals. It also has info on all the tourist attractions, etc.
Hope to hear back from you : )
You will most likely have a problem getting into clubs and bars in Washington if one of you is not 21 years old. Some places will allow under 21 (and provide a wristband for those of you over 21), but there are not many places like that.
When you are out partying, make sure you visit Fell's Point in Baltimore and Adam's Morgan in Washington.
While the cities you list are major ones, there are many other beautiful ones. And I've noticed from your list that you have left out the entire midwest!
I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan and it is a great (maybe the best) example of a midwestern university town (University of Michigan, Cleary University, Eastern Michigan University, and more). It is located about an hour west of Detroit and 5 hours east of Chicago <-- another great place!
Re the bars: Drinking ages vary by state so their is no fixed rule for clubs across the country. And variations in drinking age can take the form of beverages allowed, e.g. in some states, you can drink low-alcohol beer at 18 or 19 but nothing else till 21. Some counties in some states, and even some cities, are dry, i.e. you can't even buy alcohol.
Have a great trip.
Are you sure you want to go to Albuquerque? I have family in Albuquerque, and I assure you there is nothing at all worth seeing. Santa Fe is about 45 minutes from Albuquerque, and if you're coming to New Mexico I would definitely recommend Santa Fe. It actually has a culture and many art galleries and the Plaza is pretty cool. There are pretty old churched with a lot of history to see around the Plaza area in old town Santa Fe and interesting boutiques. Also, I believe Santa Fe is ranked 4th in the country for the quality of its restaurants. The food there is amazing. So, pass up Albuquerque (which would be pointless and boring) and look around Santa Fe.
I'm 20 myself but I've never had a problem getting into a bar. You should be fine, plus in major cities (I'm only assuming here considering my experiences in NYC, Philly and Baltimore) chances are that even if your 20 year old friend were to ask for a drink at the bar, they wouldn't card him. Of and if you're looking for someone's house to crash at while traveling check out couchsurfing.com
Hope all goes well!
