My name is Elliott, and I would like to see if anyone out there would like to join me on my trip down to South America. I've been planning it here on and off while finishing up my academic career (for now at least) here in Berkeley, California. I am wanting to take off late may or early june and fly back in early september after selling the car. Please let me know if you're interested.
Have you done your research on how to get your car from Panama to Colombia? I'm told you can't go overland between these two countries (no roads in the Darien Gap) and it requires flying or taking a boat? Is there a way to take your car across? I don't know the answer to this, and it may be quite possible, but make sure you look into it before you hit the road.
There's about a 2 week process of getting your car shipped from Panama to Ecuador (or even Columbia, but I'm going to try and bypass that country). It costs about 1000. There used to be a ferry service that took the same route but it was discontinued in 97.
