Hi,

If you had to choose between Lausanne, Montreux and Interlaaken to stay at for 2 days at the start of June, which one would you choose and why?
I'm having trouble deciding on which one would be best!

Thanks,

Rena

I'd say Interlaaken - the area is just gorgeous! Plus if you're into it , there's loads of outdoor adventure stuff to do.

Interlaken, would be my choice as well. (or making the trip to Gimmelwald, and stay there, it would take about one hour extra to get there from Interlaken (Ost).

Thanks for your opinions, guys!

I was also wondering if there were any other favourite, must see, is absolutely gorgeous/fantastic places in Switzerland and Austria?

It would be a big help if they were on the train line, but if they're not I'd still love to hear about them...

Ta very much,

Rena

For me the Hohe Tauern region in Austria is a favourite. If you can get hold of a map (or Google Earth), check out the bit between Krimml and Mittersill, it has a main valley (west to east), with all the connections (roads, train), and a couple of valleys heading south towards the main mountainridge of the Alps. It's perfect for hiking. There are plenty of Bed&Breakfasts (Pension/Gasthaus) that are affordable.

My favourite place in the region is Lauterbrunnen. It's about an hour out of Interlaaken and absolutely amazing! If you decide to head out to Lauterbrunnen, check out Trummelbach falls - the largest underground falls around.
