Yep, agree completely, there are some particularly suspect Travel Gurus on this site.

Has any travel guru or moderator been really stripped of his/her status due to inactivity or being not able to contribute significantly to TP, so as to keep the status alive.

Yes, Travel Gurus and Moderators have to keep contributing or they will be demoted to "Respected member"

i have high regard and respect for u Mikey seeing ur rapid fire posts on a regular basis.

But i still wonder have u not contributed enough to become a travel guru even with close to 4000 posts under ur belt.

Being a Travel Guru member is not simply about the amount of postings a member has - it also helps your status to have blogs, photos uploaded, travel helper, and indeed become involved in the new wiki.

BUT really the status just entitles you to a few extra perks - your spam flag button, or amount of photos you can upload. Its not related to your "travel wisdom" per say, just as to how helpful and active you have been on the site.

Most of my posts are in the "Off Topic" forum - no points for that Rank doesn't necessarily go by number of posts.

I'm just here for the banter . . . .

Even then ur contributing to the popularity of TP in ur own way:)

Hey, I never thought of that. By that reasoning I should hold the rank of "Super Executive Admin Moderator Guru"

One can never become a moderator just by posting and contributing alone. They are appointed by Admins. So far, there is only one moderator who had his title removed because he went missing-in-action all of a sudden for a very long time and could not be contacted. Another two moderators gave up their post as they were too busy with their own matters.

As for Travel Gurus and Respected Members, I have seen them got demoted before. Mostly Respected Members getting demoted to Full Member status. It happens occasionally. A Travel Guru and a Respected Member exchanging ranks have also happened before, but rarely.

mikeyBoab has achieved some quite impressive firsts in the forums, some of which might never be possible again. He's the first (and possibly ever) member who had close to 3000 posts and was still a Budding Member. He's also the only known member (there could be more) who skipped the Full Member status to become a Respected Member. Now, it looks like he's achieving another one. First Respected Member or non-Travel Guru to have 4000 posts.
