I just booked a flight arriving in Athens, Greence on July 19th...

And my departure from London Healthrow on August 7th..

That means I have 19 nights in Europe in between then...

Help build my trip through Europe...

Like I said, I need to begin in Athens, Greece and end in London, England....

I need cheap flights or short train rides between locations...any advice?

I was thinking:

Athens for 5 nights (1 extra night here to adjust to time)
flight to Munich for 4 nights
flight to Edinburgh for 3 nights
train to Glascow for 2 nights
flight to London for 4 nights

That is the schedule that I have found to work, can anyone come up with something better? I know people say to spend most time in London, but I dont seem to be interested in that.

Thanks

Does anyone now of any cheap flights from Munich to Paris?

I was thinking of spending two nights there and then moving onto Edinburgh, then London and excluding Glascow...

Air Berlin flies Munich to Paris-Orly http://www.airberlin.com/

I would take one day less in Athens. 3 is enough + one day to recover from jetlag, would make 4. You can do Glasgow (not the animal), as a daytrip from Edinburgh very easily.

RyanAir flies Paris-Beauvais to Glasgow Prestwick (both need a transfer, but it might be better, than a flight via London)

Day trips from Munich: Neuschwanstein, Dachau and Passau.

You are also missing out on beautiful Salzburg - consider flying to Munich, then taking the train to Salzburg and flying onward from Salzburg.

Which budget airlines flies out of Salzburg?

That could work, then I would leave from there to Edinburgh or Glascow....

And...how far are the various Paris airports from the center of the city? And how would you travel between them?

Here is another option, can anyone suggest cheap places to stay in thhe following cities...cheap but nice.

Athens
Munich
Paris
Edinburgh

fly into athens
fly to munich
train to paris
flight to edinburgh

Something like that? I am also interested in more information on travelling from Munich to Salzburg and from Salzburg to Glascow or Edinburgh...

budget airlines: www.skyscanner.net
train trip planning (schedules, travelling time): www.bahn.de

BTW, it is sometimes more economical time-wise to take nighttrains than to fly, because flights during the day eat up your time with transfers and whatnot.

There are two nighttrains on the Paris-Munich route. If buy in advance over the internet and get a special offer it is not that expensive, Couchettes start from 39 EUR one way on.

Travel time between Salzburg and Munich is only 1hr 30min, so it can easily be done as a day trip. (Though you would likely have to miss out on this highlight: www.marionetten.at/)

Directly to Edinburgh or Glasgow is not possible, however you can fly Salzburg to London-Stansted (RyanAir), and Stansted to Edinburgh (Easyjet), the other option would be to travel by train to Munich Airport and take a direct flight from there to Scotland. (Munich - Edinburgh, with Easyjet or to Glasgow, with BMI)

I have to agree with t_maia, that nighttrains can be a very good options, providing you can sleep on them.

I like the idea of the night train from Munich to Paris, can someone please give me a link where I can buy the train ticket in advance on the internet?

Also, are sleeper cars available?
