If I am going to be taking a train from Munich to Paris over night (which I would like to) I am goin to need a sleeper car.... is that possible?

Also, how far is Paris(Beauvais) airport from the center of the city?

Is the scenery worth it on the train, because a flight seems quicker and is cheaper also...

I already gave it the link to you: www.bahn.de, click on "international guests". Booking certain international fares over the internet is a bit problematic though and you might have to call the Deutsche Bahn service center.

And a couchette is the budget option of a sleeper. In a sleeper you get full bedding with linen and all, and in a couchette you get a simple wool blanket. You can lie down and stretch out in both, so most people choose couchette.

For your airport question:

Google is your friend.

Hi Will

How about cooling down by a nice beach in an apartment with an awesome view after all that city trecking?

Just came from Portugal, Portimao: http://www.geocities.com/algarve_holiday and was very warm and enjoyable. The earlier in July the better since it's less busy!

I hope you have a great time in Europe!

Ok how does this sound?

4 nights in Athens (day trip to an island?)
4 nights in Munich (day trip to Salzburg?)
4 Nights in Paris (day trip options?)
3 Nights in Edinburgh (day trip to Glascow)
4 Nights in London (day trip to Stonehenge?)

Is that a reasonable split of my nights per city?

You want a little more than just a day to visit an island in my opinion, so I wouldn't do that, I would take 3 days to visit an island. I would stick with 3 days in Athens, maybe this link can provide you with some ideas, and if it doesn't it might have som good information in Athens itself http://www.athensguide.com/rafina.html

Salzburg can be done as a daytrip from Munich, but it will only give you time to see the centre, and the festung (castle). If you would like to see more of the region (Hallstatt/Werfen), you need more days, but that's your call.

I think you would need the time you have for Paris in Paris, but if you would shift something around, you could do a daytrip to Versailles.

The same is true of London, 4 days in London, is really the minimum you need in London (and still you would feel you missed out on some things). The daytrip to Stonehenge is possible in a day, but be prepared for a long day. There are other travelers that do this trip in combination with Bath (yes the name for the bath you have in your house, comes from this place), and stay for 1 night in Bath, or somewhere nearby.

For timetable etc, check the www.bahn.de link t_maia gave you, it will also tell you the timetables for other countries.

Hey mate

try germanwings.com for flights to and from munich.

Also the big cities are nice but my best advice is try to see a couple of small spots to and if interested in greek islands you should stay for a couple of days (it will take 8 hrs to get there on ferry)... you only really need one day in athens.

in munich look at wombatshostel.com

cheers

What about Rome, or French Mediterranean coast?
Athens 5 days!!??, Munich 4 days in July!?? You come all the way down from US for that?

you must have your reasons of course, but don't miss Paris and Rome if you didnt see them.
Paris-Rome there are frequent Ryanair flights...

itm.

^ I have changed it to 4 nights in Athens, which will mean basically 3 full days there.

4 nights in Munich means the same, and I am hoping to make a day trip to Salzburg.

So..it really is not that much time in each city. I think you missed the 2nd page, as I do plan on going to Paris, France now?

I appreciate all the comments, any more opinions?
