I will be in Hong Kong by myself for 3 days from May 9- 12. Can anyone recommend a hostel/guesthouse that's budget friendly, clean, cozy and well located in Kowloon area? I would love to meet other travelers while I'm there to tour the area and then Macau. Any info would be greatly appreciated...
For affordable hotel in HK, check Yui Fai Guesthouse http://www.yiufaiguesthouse.com/ or Wonderful Inn http://www.wonderfulinn.com/index.php in Nathan Road. The place is very accessible, safe and clean, just accross MTR station and it's where most tourist stay.
For Macau, Augusters Lodge www.augusters.de or call (853) 664-5026, 713242.
If you are ever staying over in Macau and dont mind the half-hour bus ride out to Coloane (the island farthest away of the three, or only two due to land reclamation) then The Hac-Sa Youth Hostel managed under the Macau government is truly the place to go for. I stayed there for 2 weekday nights June 2006...it was spacious, clean, equipped with internet (free to use, just take turns), TV, kitchen, just GREAT. It was only 50 patacas per night per person for a dorm room with 2 beds with toilet/shower right inside (and they dont charge you for two if you're going solo). There was a guy who stayed in the same room as mine for 1 night but not the other so I had the whole room to myself!
The only thing is that you MUST book ahead of time...
But it's located right by Hac-Sa beach where you can enjoy the BBQ food (food stalls selling all sorts of food)
You can check out the details on their site:
