Hi guys,

I’m departing on my RTW in October, and was going to take the Trans Mongolian train through to China.

Now, a fellow traveller thought of an alternative, the Silk Route.

Now has anybody done either? I would really love to hear your thoughts and opinions.

If any one has done both, I would love to hear a comparison.

I look forward to hearing for you.

Matt

I did the trans-Mongolian very quickly in 2005. My blog has a quick highlights: Trans-Mongolian Rail Report. There are other members who have done it on the board, I'm sure they can post.

I can't compare to the silk road, as I haven't done it, but I think the silk road would be a very different experience. Personally, I've only been a few places where Islam is the major religion, and found them fascinating places.

I agreed with GregW's opinion.<<as I haven't done it, but I think the silk road would be a very different experience. Personally, I've only been a few places where Islam is the major religion, and found them fascinating places.>>
Have a nice trip!
