can someone please put my mind at rest. im going to arrive in oz a little under the £2000 mark so iv heard thats cool they never check. just im worried how long that will last me and when i start working will i earn enough to servive. i understand alot of that depends on myself and how much i spend but a little advice would be comforting to say the least.

That equals just under AU$5000 which could last you anything from 1 month to 3 months depending on how you spend your cash.
Once you start working you will be fine as jobs in Aus are reasonably well paid. Again it depends on how you spend your money but if you plan on working full-time you will definitely have enough to survive.

I came to australia, with $2,000.. and a year later I am still here..
I agree with the dude above that the jobs are well paid.
If you do bar work you will need to attend an RSA course.
You will love it here.. I do..

Don't panic at all! In my experience it's very unlikely that immigration will ask you for proof of funds. And don't forget if they do that having a credit card (and evidence of your credit limit) counts towards "available funds".

Enjoy oz!!

Not sure if this will help, but as stated above, you'll need an RSA to work in pubs and bars, and you're the one literally serving the alcohol.
RSA costs at most $120 or something (maybe less). I spent $300 on a week long course on making cocktails, including getting the RSA certificate. Cheap - and more possibilities in getting a job.

G'luck!

hey dude.

no worries, 2000 pounds sure last you for awhile. i went into aussie with only 500 AUD with me but withdraw 300+ over my stay there (3wks) . it will be fine for you since you will be working.
