I will be travelling in Asia in Sept/Oct. I arrive in Singapore and from there who knows where I will end up.
Roughly I am thinking Bangkok-Vietnam-Laos-Malaysia and then back to Singapore.
As an Australian citizen I am thinking that I will only need a visa for Vietnam and Laos. This being the case, is it possible for me to obtain visa's for these countries within a couple of days.
For example - In Bangkok I was going to obtain a visa for Vietnam and in Vietnam a visa for Laos.
I am just so flexible with where I will be that I didn't want to shell out extra cash if I don't have to....
Yes, you have it correct. You only need a VN & Lao visa before hitting their borders. All of the SEA countries will do your VN visa for you in one day. You do pay for speedy service, it costs less if allow them 2-4 days for them to issue a visa. You can get your Lao visa at the border if you are going to be in Laos 14 days or less. If you want more than 2 weeks, get your Lao visa in VN before entering the country.
It seems you will have enough time to include Cambodia. I would suggest going from BKK to Siem Reap and visit Angkor Wat for 3 days. Down to Phnom Penh for a few days, then for $10 you can go from PP to HCMC. Then take the open tour bus north to HaNoi, then into Laos, back to Thailand and head for Singapore. Good Luck.
Cheers for that Mike.
I will only have a month, and made the mistake last time of only having 2 weeks in Vietnam. Would like to spend another 2 weeks there if I could. Also am looking for about a week in Thailand. Too many places, too little time. Always the way.
