Just a quick question, one I probably already know the answer to, but just to make sure.. Are laundry/washing facilities widely available in Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand? And what would be the average cost for a wash and dry. Thanks

i'm glad u asked this cuz we got majorly jipped in thailand....

make sure u find out the costs before u do it....a usual load is like 2-3 US dollars....but, this one hotel we stayed at charged "by piece" and we didn't know....we paid $40 US dollars for 2 loads...so bummed!

Most guest houses offer this service, and you may also find that internet cafes and other businesses aimed at tourists will offer it.

Nomadgirl is right....make sure they offer it by weight not per piece, or you could get ripped off a bit. (In some places you may find they only wash per piece so you may have to negotiate a bit).

If you have any clothes with you that are worth a lot to you and you couldn't bear to lose (although such things are best left at home), I would wash them myself, just in case.

In vietnam and cambodia most guesthouses can do laundry for you- you will see all over the place places with signs that they can. Usually a couple dollars in the backpacker areas.. I also brought some laundry detergent and a cord, and a couple times when I knew I was staying in a city for a couple days would just do laundry myself in the sink and hang up stuff to dry.....

I usually find that if you are in expensive hotels that they will usually charge more for laundry services. Like the previous poster said that you should ask about the price before you drop off something.

You can almost always find a place to wash clothes in Asia. Ask for advice in some of the internet shops, usually the owner or even the customers may have some suggestions.

Don't bring a lot of clothes that are difficult to clean or care for. Simple clothes that launder easy are best.

In Thailand I find that smaller towns you visit will be cheaper than big cities. You can also find some places that are "laundramats" with coin operated machines, not as common as a store front but they are available.

Even when you "Google" laundry service in Vietnam (or the other countries) you get a lot of suggestions on where to go.

If Pattaya, Thailand is on your list of places to visit laundries are plentiful and cheaper than Bangkok. Prices are posted on the windows or on signs easy to read. Usually the prices are by piece - but the charge is cheap (just like the hotels!)

Good luck.
