The final stop in my RTW before I head back to London is to be North America. I only have around 1 month for this and want it to be a memorable and not too heavy going end to my travels.
I will be arriving from Peru after spending 4 months in South America.
Question is where do I go? I've come up with either Mexico or West Coast USA but there must be other options.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
To be honest a month is a LOT of time to get around the US. Now I am not sure how much time you are planning to spend here but if it will be more then 4 weeks and if you want an ambitious travel schedule here is what I would do.
Come up highway 1 because all of that is Just AWESOME! Once done find your way to I-80 (assuming its summer) or I-70. Take that across country and depending on which way you take you can hit places like Montana, Chicago, St. Louis, Indianpolis, Cleveland. and even leave from NYC (its off of 80)
Just a thought cause although the West Coast is pretty there is a lot you can get out of seeing the plain and East coast states that you can't get in the west.
Just a thought and if you need help planning or finding places to crash let me know!
Hit up the west coast then travel cross country and up towards the Northeast of the US. While in the northeast you should definitely visit the Canadian cities of Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa. They're close enough to warrant a visit and are worth it.
I agree, Montreal, Quebec City are good... nice drive down via Maine or Vermont through Boston to New York.
Alternatively it may be worth stopping in New Orleans.
We lived in Boston and Visited New York a bit. We put these to trips of things to do in each of these cities together.
