Will be returning a rental car to charles de galle airport outside Paris and need transportation to central Paris. (Paris Centre) Three of us. Does anyone know the most economical way for three to get there? Plan to stay in a hotel in Paris. Any suggestions? thanks.
They have busses from the airport to central Paris. Just ask at information. It cost be about 8 Euro from Terminal 3 to Opéra, if I remember right.
As for hotels, I stayed at Home Moderne last time, and will be going back in June. Simple, clean rooms for about 40 Euro a night. It's way out in the 15th, though - completely on the other side of the city from CDG. Still, easy enough to get to by Metro.
You can also get a train to Gare Du Nord, from where you can get onto the Metro.
I stayed in the chatelet area near the Louvre at (I think) Hotel Violet. It proved to be very central for most things, and a good alternative to the crowded area arounf L'Arc de Triomphe.
From CDG, the cheapest, easiest way to central Paris is the train (RER B). Follow the signs at the airport.
For the hotel, if you will stay there for a short period of time and you want to make the most of it you should find a place around the areas Chatelet, St.Michel-St. German or Opera.
i took a 'les cars' bus provided by air france and it dropped me off at the arc de triomphe
Hey cjdem, i second inthemerde about taking (RER B),very easy to find and it's the colour blue.
About the hotel,try
There's actually a hotel called "Grand hotel magenta"it would cost all 3 of you 81.75Euros...which is really good value for money...
If you can book your rooms as early as possible...it's also right next door to Gare Du Nord(Still RER B)
All The Best
There is a bus which leaves, from outside each of terminal, at Charles de Galle airport and goes as far as the Oprea house in central Paris. Then u could take the underground, to your hotel.
Also, it would be worth asking a taxi driver outside the airport, how much it would cost, to take a taxi, to your hotel. Since there are 3 of u, this may be cheaper than bus and underground.

I echo the RER B option, it leaves you right in the middle of paris, with loads of metro options.
I only got back from paris yesterday and I stayed in an apartment which was unbelivebly cheap - they start at roughly €300 per week for two. Try www.parissweethome.com
Im so jealous!
