paul-79 has indicated that this thread is about Australia

Hello all!

I'm going to be heading to Australia in June. Was planning on stopping off in Thailand for a few weeks first. Was looking for a couple of suggestions on where would be good to visit??

Will head on to Melbourne after that. I've been informed that the weather in Melbourne at this time of year is not so hot!! Surely it's not too bad!! Is it??

Anyway. I Have the Holiday/working visa and was planning on trying to get some sort of job and checking out Melbourne before getting a definite route planed. Can't decide weather to take the East coast first or West!!

Does anyone have any advice on the job front in Melbourne?? Who would be the best type of employers to contact for short term work in the city?

As you could probably tell my plans are some what devoid of any certainty!! Any suggestions on the general stuff would be great!

Anyone wanting to meet up who will be in Melbourne around June/July, get in touch. Would be good to meet a few other people who are travelling on their own.

Cheers Paul

Since you are thinking of travelling to both the west and east coasts of Oz from Melbourne, I would like to suggest that you fly from Thailand to Perth and then start working your way around through the southern route. If you have the time/finances, Tasmania is also worth while visiting (easily accessible from Melbourne). Keep in mind the wet season up north is during our summer.

Conversely, you could start in Cairns and move south and finish up in Perth and include some side trips further up the west coast. If you are after some more rugged areas, as distinct from cities, the Kimberly area - north WA, is not to be missed, especially the Bungle Bungles. In which case, you could start from Darwin.

One website for employment is: www.seek.com.au, another one which could be useful is: http://jobsearch.gov.au. Suggest you do a google search for casual employment in Australia.

Enjoy your time in Thailand and Australia.

Paul,

You gotta be a bit more specific if you want to know what the hell to do but her is a start.

Aussie is bang on - STARt at Perth and then head East. If I were you I would head north from Perth to Shark bay, onto to Ningaloo at Exmouth (pronounced phonetically in OZ) then Broome, Darwin, Alice Adelaide Melbourne via the GOR (Great Ocean Road) and you will have had a rocking time. The onyl thing is that North is in Season and fantastic - warm AND dry. Then get a job abnd pay it all offf over the winter - hibernate in Melbourne if you miss the cold, Sydney still cool and Brissy for a nice time. Then head North.

Thats all I can do to start you off. -snip-
