Hi, we're spending June + July in Brazil, flying into Sao Paulo. We're planning on bussing / training it North to Sao Luis, with as many stops on the way as possible.

Any recommendations for where to go, what to see, or indeed how to go about it?

our plans are very flexible (non-existent) and language isn't going to be a problem (fluent portuguese)

Thanks for your help

My girlfriend and me truly enjoyed Sao Jose do Rio Preto, even though there is absolutely NOTHING of touristic interest there. It's a nice, laid-back brazilian city, though in slight decay.

Que bom , Sou fluente em portugues tambem . Porque sou brasileiro hehehe . I can´t help you about Northeast i will start knowing the brasil ´s northeast this year . I heard São Luis is very nice and it is considered the reggae capital in brazil.

If you are going Sao paulo/Sao luis by bus be prepared because it is veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery long travel and stressful , horrible highways on northeast , the better highways are south and southeast . if you are making this travel i hope you are going to get the shoreline , it will be a lot more entertain. Getting to know all Brazil ´s coastline ( it is my dream ) If it is a travel by the coastline you will arrive Sao luis all black from all tan you will get . Hope you enjoy Sao luis , waaa you are going before me
