Since you leave early in the AM why not just stay up all night before the flight, so you'll be tired enough to sleep once you get on board?

I actually tried that and for me it was absaloutly the worst idea I have had in my life.. or close to it anyway :)

Allready well tierd once I got on my flight, I got an uncomfortable aisle seat in the back of the plane with crying babies and groups entertaining themselfes by talking extreamly loud and singing. To top that off the couple next to me kept kissing and hugging and cuddling and were constantly bumping into me. To make it even worse they felt the need to stand up about once every 15 minutes.

In a 10 hour flight I think I got about 40 minutes of shut eye during the end and once I arrived in Bangkok i was so utterly exhausted i just got myself into the next hotel I could find and crashed. This was also bad because it was just before noon Thailand time and because i fell asleep it took me much longer to get over my jet lag..

Soooooo, cannot recommend this plan. If you do decide to do it, check in early and try to get a window seat and put earplugs into your hand luggage.

Anyway, on my way i discovered for the first time that my i-pod has games on it so if yours supports this you should check out downloading some more games before you go.
Most cell phones have this option too and even though not the best quality games you can get suprisingly lost in these. Although not for flight it might be good for long busrides.

Hey steffi, unfortunately, no personal tvs :( They just had a big one at the front and a few that dropped down from the roof in the centre of the plane. Nothing at all until new zealand, so take an mp3 player and a book!

Have fun

You can sleep if you get a seat on the window and stay looking the clouds and the things looking very small down there, and dream you are flying or walking on the clouds, and at night you can count stars or cities.
Or buy some portable video game, or some sleep pills,erm.....or magazines or caling your friends with your mobile to have a long conversation xD ( joke! )

Thanks for letting me know Andy! I had a feeling that would be the case. Hope it wasn't too bad for you!
