hoho.

you betta book your hostels early. i would say, 6 mths before xmas and new year.

i went to melbourne in march, during the grand prix season. i stayed in a 6 bed dorm at 26 bucks, and i booked it 3 mths ago. i met an English girl, she told me she paid more than what i paid, and yet staying in a 14 bed dorm. some travellers i know, came from other hostels to sleep in my hostel's common room!

the last talk i had with with the english girl was, she was in sydney during the new year, and she learnt that some fellas actually paid 24 bucks to sleep in a toilet. so, you know what you shld be doing. :]

Hi Zel, i had the same realisation as you a few weeks ago! To be safe iv booked into hostels from the 20th - 2nd Jan in Sydney (Base and Wakeup - they seem pretty good and everyone seems to rate them). I was planning on booking the few weeks after that a bit nearer the time. After looking through the accommodation bit on here, alot of places seemed to be getting full already...so thought better safe than sorry. You only have to pay 10 percent of your booking now and then pay the rest when you get there, so ur savings shouldnt be affected too much;) Hope this helps! x
