We're off on holiday to Thailand and Lao for two weeks this weekend.
Can anyone recommend any sights that we absolutely must not miss?
We're thinking a couple of days in Bangkok and then heading to Lao, with a trip to an island for relaxation at the end of week 2.
Any hints, tips and recommendations greatly received!
In BKK Grand Place and Reclining Budda. I have seen both twice now and all I can say is seeing is believing.
I was just there for the whole month of Feb 2007 and went to all the sites in BKK and know the area pretty well. So if I can be of further assitance just let me know. James
Don't miss Luang Prabang in Laos - allow a few days there. and the drive between Luang Prabang and Vang Vieng along route 13 is stunning. if you are crossing the border in northern thailand, you can spend a nice couple of days travelling by slow boat down the Mekong, ending up in Luang Prabang.
a trip down the klongs (canals) in bangkok is interesting, Jim Thompson's house is worth a visit and as the previous post said, the grand palace is amazing. there are loads of other great temples around the city too if you like this kind of thing.
