Oh no! When I moved here, I promised myself I would never use that annoying phrase. Sorry!
Anyway, I've been lurking on this forum for a while so I thought it was time to introduce myself. Although I lived in England nearly all my life, I moved to Spain a couple of years ago where we operate a few websites providing information for people who want to learn about Spain and the little hotels of Spain, the Balearics and the Canaries. (I mustn't advertise, but the clue is in there somewhere
As my work is entirely internet based, I can live almost anywhere I want, so I'm fortunate to be able to live up on the side of an Andalucian mountain, sharing the fresh air with the mimosa, rosemary and wild boar.
Travel? Yes I've been to quite a few places, but on the whole I've probably ticked a lot fewer boxes than many people. I'm not so much interested in the "It's Tuesday so this must be Belgium" school of travel. I prefer to really get to know a small location, so one day I came up with this little bit of homespun philosophy:
When you see a hill, walk up it.
When you see a bar, sit in it (and have a drink or three).
When you see a beach, lie on it.
When you get back home, don't boast about all the famous places you briefly flashed past. Tell people about the unheard of places that you took time to explore properly.
