Hey Guys,

I'm planning on buying a campervan when I get to Oz, just something second hand with a budget of around $5k.

I have been looking on Gumtree etc and it should be fairly easy to get a pretty reliable one for this price...

In your experience, what is the best model? Toyota Hi-Ace, Ford Eco-Van?

Please leave feedback, good or bad.

Thanks,

Leigh

hi Leigh.
sorry mate dont know much about the question of which motor home, i only hired one
can tell you that the facilerties on the camp sites are fantastic. showers and barbies.
point im making is dont push the boat out and get something with loo and shower as i found that to be waisted space unless your thinking of stopping anywhere in the outback and not on a site,,,,not too sure if wild camping is a good idea. i like to be around other campers and not on my own,

Hey

we looked at buying a campervan, but it was too dificult and too expensive, so we decided to hire.
The van had everything, fridge, microwave, pop top and a double bed.
If you where going to buy a van like the one we hired, it would cost around $20000.
we didnt have to worry about breakdowns, insurance, rego etc.
Oz is hard to register a campervan in a persons name without a perminant address, so renting was the best option.
when the trip is over, you dont have to spend 3 weeks trying to sell it.

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please... ]

Hi,

Bought a Hiace van... absolutely brilliant and cheap to fix should anything go wrong.

Cost about $4,700 aussie dollars.

Had it for 2 years and did 28,000 km's in him.

Bought in Darwin and sold in Cairns. There's car markets etc. to buy things... depending on your time limits look into buying, however, remember you have to hang around a place to work out if your're going to sell it or not and you might have to spend a few weeks to get the price you want.

I've posted on this before I'm sure so search the web site... there's plenty on here already about vans.

cheers

Taffski.
