Hey I am planning on flying into Bangkok and leaving from Jakarta 6 weeks later, plan on making my way down. Since I won't have a return ticket when I enter Thailand proving I'll be leaving the country in 30 days, will this be a problem??

Don't worry. Although the law states that you must have a return/outbound ticket, it is not enforced.

There have been lots of unrests being reported in the southern Thailand particularly in Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani provinces. So, if you're heading to Malaysia, take the Hatyai route to the Sadao/Bukit Kayu Hitam border instead of the eastern route of Sungai Kolok/Rantau Panjang border or the Betong/Pengkalan Hulu immigration checkpoint, which are within the 3 troubled provinces. The Pekan Siam/Padang Besar border is also safe. You may want to avoid staying in any of the towns in Southern Thailand. So, just make it a transit point to Malaysia. You can also get into Langkawi, via Satun, a coastal town in Southern Thailand, which is a getaway to Ko Tarutao archipelago. There are ferry and long boat services from Satun to Langkawi as well as to Kuala Perlis. This is also another alternative to cross over to Malaysia from Thailand if you want to avoid Hatyai. Have a safe journey.

No worries. I am current travelling in Thailand with 2 indonesians whom i met on the train few days ago. And now they had procceed to Cambodia. So you need not to worry about return ticket. You can go to a TAT(Tourism Authority of Thailand) office here in Bangkok which is located opposite Thailand National Bank at See Yak Bangkhunphom Road. There, you can get any informations about ticket to Malaysia or other part of Thailand( Cambodia and Laos too). They are doing Hotel pick up for free as well. In fact my 2 indonesian friends got their ticket from the office as well. So, once you have your ticket, you are done with it. Cheers. have a Nice Trip Mate! ;)
