In august my parents are visiting, and were going to drive from the netherlands, to skagen in the northern tip of denmark (where my sister is on exchange) to goteborg in sweden and then down the swedish coast to kopenhagen, where were all gonna go our seperate ways back home (sis to skagen, me to amsterdam, and mum n dad for a week in italy).

my question is, on the route mentioned, where are places that are really worth visiting?

any must sees?

we'll be driving the whole way, and we have about 2 weeks...

Just some cities you could consider are, Groningen (netherlands), Hamburg (of course), and Roskilde (near Copenhagen), From Copenhagen it's just a short drive to the Island of Mon, which is beautiful, but could also be a busy place.

yeah ive decided to stop by in gronigen on the way thru.. ive heard good things!

why is the island of mon busy? what can you do there? is it just mainly for chilling out at the beach or is there more to it than that??

cos im going with my parents, i think theyre more into smaller villiages n things like that, any suggestions like that? i think ill take them to loosdrecht (in NL) for the afternoon, since i live close by anyway, and if the weathers nice, its a really cute, quint little plce!

I don't know Loosdrecht so well, but maybe you could do a visit at the dams in Zeeland. The Oosterscheldestormvloedkering (anyone for scrabble?), maybe that could be interesting for your parents, as it is a big piece of engeneering.

Mon is quite popular so that's why I said it could be busy, but it is most famous for the rockformations on the coast. (in the east) http://www.visitmoen.com/english/monsklint.html (check the experience button for more thing to do in/on mon.

Seems like we are almost neighbours jaxstar! Loosdrecht is just a short drive away, I was there last Sunday even, watching some old car rally driving by. you see those often in that area, great fun.

I don't know if it is nice, but Malmo is on the route as well.
Also, there is this oldest town in Denmark, on the mainland, maybe 100 km north of the german border, but I forgot the name actually. It was nice as well.

I like Lubeck very much as well, so that might be an option.

yeah lubeck was really nice when i went there... really liked it! need to check exactly where it is tho, i forget... i know its in the north, can you get a ferry or someting to denmark from there? it would suck a bit to drive there, and then have to backtrack to get to denmark... tho i can just look on a map :D

loosdrecht is a nice place to just sit by the water and have a drink i think, and there is another nice town close by, where you have to drive along a long road flanked by lots of water! dont remember the name tho :(

You can take a ferrie to cross to Denmark (to Lolland) from a town called Puttgarden, which is North of L├╝beck. (if you look at a map, you will see an island sticking out into the Baltic Sea.

You however also choose to drive on to Wismar and Rostock, and to make a crossing to Denmark from Rostock.
