Hi, we will be doing a road trip across the USA for 6-8 weeks starting at Boston and finishing in LA. Can anyone recommend any routes and great places to go. We will be driving via Nashville, Memphis & the south. Cheers.

Mark,
Of course you should stop at Washington DC and then I would stop in Virginia. Williamsburg, Jamestown, Civil War battlefields, cave tours, Skyline Drive & the Blue Ridge Parkway. A very scenic state. Then the Elvis Museum in Memphis before heading west. New mexico has Santa Fe & Taos on your way to the 4 Corners area. Canyon De Chelly, Mesa Verde & Monument Valley are worth a stop. If you choose the north rim of the Grand Canyon, then you can hit the Utah parks; Bryce, Arches, Zion before hitting Las Vegas on your way to LA. Just a idea of the places available as you head west. Have a great trip.

Great tips! That is roughly the route we had planned. We will plan in the interesting elements you've just mentioned. From Vegas we will be heading to San Fransisco down to LA. Do you have any additional stop offs for this part of the journey? Many Thanks

Mark,
Death Valley, Sequoia & Yosemite Nat'l Parks are on your way. All worth a stop. Mono Lake just east of Yosemite is very different if you have the time.

Excellent suggestions on stops from vegasmike6. Once you get to SF and want to go south, stop in Monterey/Carmel, then either Paso Robles (if you go inland route), Solvang (a cute little Danish village featured in the movie "Sideways", or Santa Barbara. From there, it's a 2 hour drive on to LA via Hwy 101.
