Im in america for 2.5 months from the middle of may. For one month of the trip im gonna be doing the west coast and hiring a car to do the big sur and what not.
Can someone tell me the best company to go with. I know they're all expensive but thats life I guess. Theres gonna 2 of us who can drive. A 24 year old and a 22 year old. I know about the added charge for under 25's too.
Any advice would be grand. Thankyou.
Also... FOX seem quite good. Anyone used them before?
The top 5 are Hertz, Avis, Alamo, Enterprise, and Dollar. All have websites that will give you estimates of how much it will cost to rent their cars. I say check out all of them and then see which is cheaper for you.
(P.S. I think if you go to www.kayak.com you can put in your itinerary and they will do this check for you and tell you which car rental company is cheapest).
Enjoy your trip.
Actually, renting a car in the US is cheap, and not expensive as you say. Compared to other countries I mean. Renting a car in europe, morocco or for example namibia is much more expensive.
But the best are the regular ones like Hertz. Don't go for the cheaper ones (probably a couple of dollars less). Lots of people afterwards regret the fact that they saved some money on bad rental cars. Otherwise, if you can't afford it, maybe buy a car and sell it with a profit if you are lucky!
