Mamaris in Turkey, although that's arguably not European . . .

It's really about expectations, I think. I just can't imagine anyone saying that Amsterdam is overated. It is the best european city in my opinion. London and Rome are also amazing! My (short) trip to Madrid was not the best, but I had a great time. I think my biggest disapointments were Milan and Florence. But I had a good time overthere too. I guess I'm easygoing...

i don't think any city can be overrated. it's the little things in life that give you the most joy... you just have to look closer.

so perhaps they don't have neat sights to be seen, but there's also the people, the environment, the aura...a whole different way of life. there's lots to learn, even though it may not seem like it. i live in vancouver, and found the coolest little places in areas no one would ever have guessed..like hidden tree forts, or old wall decorations in hidden or forgotten courtyards... a friend of mine is into photography and the images he took are amazing...but you'd never think they could be from the city we live in - especially since we both (more or less) grew up here and are used to the place.

you just need to open your eyes to all sorts of different angles and keep an open mind. you know the saying...don't judge a book by its' cover.

:)

Paris! It is nice but not so much. I would come back there but I don't adore it. There are nicer places to visit.

London over-rated?

You can live for years in London and still not experience all it has to offer.

If anything, London is under-rated.

I love London, but I agree it is disturbing like New York. I would come back there several times but never live there. Paris, on the other hand, I want to visit a second time to visit the museums with more time but it is another place I would not live or visit a third time. It is a very pretentious city, beautiful, that's true, but pretentious.

Ok! I also like Amsterdam but I agree about it being overrated.

If London is over-rated then expectations were too high. It is by no means a bad place to visit, and most tourists only see a small part of London, which is touristy and too expensive and too busy. London and the area around it has enough to keep people interested for much longer than a short visit, that is probably why people like living here. I agree English generally are not friendly, but i'm surprised any tourist in London actually comes across an English person, unless they see the Queen heading out for the day, and she smiles a lot so you can't say she isn't friendly.

Maybe you are right, but this is a thread in which people give their viewpoint of a certain city that is overrated. It is not ment to attack someone living or liking that city. Also it is not ment for others to defend their city they like. It's just a matter of expectations and sometimes also some facts/objective things.

I think London's great! It's not overrated at all.
Great people, lots to see, nice atmosphere,...

I do agree that Copenhagen is overrated.

I would say London is the most over rated, its nice, but many are much much nicer. I would say prague is one of the most under rated. It is starting to get more recognition, but not all that it deserves. I would also say oslo is a little under rated.
