I am new to this forum, but am about to start an internship in Istanbul in 5 weeks. The front page of the paper yesterday morning regarding a possible coup in the coming weeks has me worried about safety, (particularly as I am a very liberal, Canadian muslim woman).
Does anyone have any advice for me? Is the political instability making it dangerous to travel in Turkey right now?
No problem Malaika;
Turkey is politically insatiable for last 30 years. Don't worry it is only political, it doesn't effect other things...
Don't afraid, it was just a kind of public demonstration with no violence. And a coup doesn't seem possible for Turkey anymore, current government was the first one which could give an answer to army saying those kind of declarations against a democratic government are not the soldiers' business...
So, everything is ok
I agree with the other people answered your question. Turkey is a safe country. Don't worry Life is going on normal here. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.
There won't be any coup. Don't worry, everything's cool.
Have a nice time there!
Don´t worry at all . You will see ...It can happend the same that in Canada nothing else . Best regards Ester
