malaikas has indicated that this thread is about Turkey

Hello,
I am new to this forum, but am about to start an internship in Istanbul in 5 weeks. The front page of the paper yesterday morning regarding a possible coup in the coming weeks has me worried about safety, (particularly as I am a very liberal, Canadian muslim woman).
Does anyone have any advice for me? Is the political instability making it dangerous to travel in Turkey right now?

Thank you!
Malaika

No problem Malaika;

Turkey is politically insatiable for last 30 years. Don't worry it is only political, it doesn't effect other things...

Hi Malaikas,
Don't afraid, it was just a kind of public demonstration with no violence. And a coup doesn't seem possible for Turkey anymore, current government was the first one which could give an answer to army saying those kind of declarations against a democratic government are not the soldiers' business...

So, everything is ok ;)

Hello Malaika,

I agree with the other people answered your question. Turkey is a safe country. Don't worry :) Life is going on normal here. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

There won't be any coup. Don't worry, everything's cool.

Have a nice time there!
