So, I love the travel blog but is there any way to switch it so that its not backwards? I dont like having to read it from the last page up and back! :S its kind of frustrating. I'd like to be able to read it from page one down and to the next page...

HELP? anyone? is it possible?

Not currently. It's an interesting idea. I guess we just followed the norm for blogs which is to list the latest entries first.

What might be an idea is to have a link that says 'Start at the beginning' for people to click on, which would then re-order the entries...

Is there anyone else who feels this would be a nice(r) way to read blogs?

It would certainly be good, but only as an option. I don't want to have to scroll through dozens of pages of old entries if all I want to do is check the most recent entry.

Actually, one comment that I did have after I got back was that some people who just checked my blog every few weeks found it hard to follow, because of how the archiving was arranged. The latest couple fo entries were easy to get, but slightly earlier ones relied on the person knowing which country/category to check

Maybe an option to add a (searchable) chapter/entry number to the start of each title would help there, and surely wouldn't be hard?

This would also mean that in the proposed PDF/printing of entire blogs, you could have a linkable contents page etc as well, meaning click on entry/chapter 36 on the contents and you would go straight there (< ERROR: the link title is too long!)

Interesting comments Rich.

Printing aside, do you think a 'contents' page listing all entries in the blog would be a handy addition? Like a site map?

Thats all i mean...i read someone's trip journal that was like 30 pages and it was very difficult to get thru...if we had the option to write it out, like a real journal, then its easier to read from start to finish...
Just an idea
:D

I do like the idea of reading a blog from the begining as an option, but not quite sure how to manage it.

As a simple solution, how about putting PREVIOUS >> and << NEXT buttons on the single entries, that way you can start with a entry, and go on to read the next entry.

Most definitely. The problem peopeel had following my trip every month or so, was that because i was travelling irregularly and backtracking, they couldn't follow it simply using the "country" buttons. Heck, I can't even follow my own trip from a public page. I have to read via my blog admi page just to get it in the correct order!!

And if you could have a general contents as well as Greg's...

It would definitely be a very welcome and useful addition.

Do both, and ASAP!

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who's noticed the inconvenience of this!!

A couple of thoughts.

Currently, if you look at the mapped travels, they have the blog entires there organized relatively by date. Perhaps we can somehow use that same functionality as a navigation tool within the blog.

Also, it would be nice if you could organize the blog according to the trips in the trips page - a category(ies) that list what trip they are associated with. That way you could only show the blog entries that were related to a specific trip.

Finally, currently the "archive" section in the blog shows by the date that the blog entry was posted, not associated with the dates of travel. Perhaps we should have a way to view blog entries by dates of travel as well?

Have you ever thought that perhaps the problem isn't the blog, but the way you travel? ;)

Frequently. But as it's not a problem to me, I blame everybody else's stupidity!

I like that as well. Kind of sub blogs. I wanted to continue an (admittedly occassional) blog of some of my other travels, but didn't want it in with my old "big trip" one, so I started a new blog entirely for it. For my upcoming next "big" trip, i'll have to start yet another blog in order to keep it seperate, and i'll soon start running out of useful blog names to choose!
