Hello everybody..

Myself and a friend are going to be staying in Cairns for a few months from July and wanted some tips on ''must do'' things here? & is it pretty easy to get jobs here?

Thanks

hey chelseakyp,

haven't been up north qld way for a few years, but definately have a look at heading out to the barrier reef from cairns and snorkelling/diving - it's beautiful, especially in july when there are no nasty jellyfish. there is also a scenic railway that runs from cairns up to a little town in the mountains called kuranda which is well worth the effort - nice scenery, but it can be a bit touristy.

cairns itself is a pretty busy spot, i don't know about getting jobs but i imagine there would be a big industry in hospitality and tourism up that way.

hope that helps

Hire yourself a car and head up to port douglas, daintree and cape tribulation for a couple of days....it's beautiful up there.
loads of rainforest walks and great beaches.

You will have no trouble getting bar/restuarant work, its everywhere!!
Kuranda is very nice, as are ptdouglas and cape trib, also check out the falls in the atherton tablelands, and there is a crystal "cave" in atherton itself that was very pretty.

There is heaps to do- white water rafting, scuba diving, sky diving, water skiing, the nightlife is great, there is a public swimming pool in the centre of town on the beach which is cool. There are brochures for stuff to do everywhere, u won't have any troublefinding stuff to do.

Enjoy! one of my favorite places ever, will be heading back in about a year.
