Hi, I'm looking to travel in Ireland this summer. Unfortunately, I cannot rent a car and would have to take buses or trains. Has anyone had experience with public transportation there? I have six days to see western Ireland -- cliffs of Moher, connemara, etc. Thanks so much.

I went to Northern Ireland last month and based my stay in Londonderry. I ventured out on public transport quite a bit going to Belfast, Bally Castle and the Giants Causeway which was totally amazing. The buses were better for availability but the trains were really good value for money.

Let me know if you want any other info. iv been to Dublin lots too and that was very easy to get around.

Hi there, being Irish I've never needed to do any tours but I've seen people recommend the Paddy Wagon Tour company which may be of use to you. I checked their website for you and they have a 2 day/1 night tour of part of the west. Otherwise you'll be mainly on buses from Limerick to Galway and may miss out on some bits that aren't directly on that route. Glad to heat you are doing the west as although I'm a Dubliner, I do love that part of the country :)
