My name is Charlie Schonwasser and I am from Sausalito California. I have travelled quite a bit and am planning a RTW trip for 2008. I will be traveling for about a year and am very excited because there is a lot out there I have not seen or done.

If anyone has any sugestions about an unforgettable town, off the wall travel adventures that I should not miss such as camping, hiking & kayaking multi-day adventures, or anything that may be of interest to me, please let me know.

Thank you for having me here,

-Charlie

Hi Charlie,

Welcome to TravellersPoint! :) I've not travelled enough to let you know the exact places to do each of the things you wanted to do, but I can tell you this - South-East Asia, Australia, and New Zealand are among the best places to do those things in your one-year travel.

I hope you're already enjoying yourself here like many of us here who're addicted to TP.

Look forward to seeing you around! :)

Hien

hi charlie,

I have been to Leh thrice... each time taking a different route.. Once i followed the land route of manali-leh, then from srinagar-leh and once i went by air from Delhi. The more i go to Leh, the more i desire to come back again. The land route is open only from the first week of July through September. Even though the journey is long and tough but it passes through spectacular landscape. U will be on the edge of ur seat and enjoy every bit of it. Moreover Himachal Government tourism runs a daily bus service from Manali to leh with an overnight halt in a tent in a beautiful valley town called Keylong. The bus has more foreigners than Indians. I highly recommend that. Then if u wanna fly, there are daily flights from Delhi to Leh which operate round the year.
