Hello, I want to go to Munich for their Oktoberfest. So far I know it is from Sept. 22 to Oct. 7 2007. I and my companion are seeking lodgings for a week or two(at least 1 week) in the form of an apartment. No hotels. We like to relax a bit in between running around to see the sites. We would also like to visit the Neuschwanstein castle also. But would really like to be close(walking distance to the Oktoberfest.) Other interests are antique shopping, flea markets? second hand stores, points of interests(like museums) and the like. Any information would be helpful as I am fairly new to European travel.

Heya, went to the oktober fest a few years ago and didn't really plan it well so was a bit disapointed. i think you need to book in advance for the large tents in the main area, least we couldn't get in any without.

neuschwanstein is great, we stayed in fussen for a day or two which was a cool place.

Me alone spent three nights at IYH in between station and Fest ground, all in walking distance. The room was 4 bedded & good, but it was only me who took all of the room. It was in 18 - 21 Sept 05,from the second day of the Oktoberfest. You can try that.

Book your accomodation as quick as possible. Most of the hostels and campsites are booked from one year to the other.
Have a great time in Oktoberfest I thought I was going to loose my soul over there.

Hello AmuHarriet:)

If u want to have accomodation, within walking distance of the Wissen or anywhere in Munich, during the Oktoberfest, u had better book it right now, to have any chance of getting something.
Also, book your table, at the Wissen now. Even now, it may be too late.

Hello everyone! Update on the OKtoberfest in Munich!
I have secured an apartment for a week that is only three blocks from the festivaties. How lucky is that?
Anyway, I want to thank everyone for all the information and links you provided for me. I have used them sooooo much. I think I will be pretty prepared when I get there. I've studied the local maps there for so long I feel like I know the neighborhood already. I am very excited. I will take lots of pics and when I return I will post some.
Thank you all again!
