Hi there, I'm backpacking Aussie and working my way around the country, just wondering what the likelihood of finding jobs in Darwin is?? Its a place I'm interested in going to but not sure whether it'd be better to just make it a sightseeing stop, or whether it's easy to pick up work there? I have lots of skills and I'm always interested in trying new things. Any info for me?

Well there are a lot of Kiwis in Darwin so you won't feel lonely. Now is the right time to be heading there for work with the dry season just about ready to get into full swing. Place becomes loaded with tourists from now till mid August so hotels, motels, clubs, bars all look for extra staff. If you want some adventure go down to marina and the prawning trawlers and ask if they are looking for staff. Very good money but you have to be at sea for a while getting dirty. Later in dry season fruit picking earns decent money also. Always appears to be plenty of jobs available at the local newspaper, the Northern Territory News with Saturday's paper best by far to check them out. Hope this helps. :)
