Guys, ... you all love to travel right? - ok then can I ask - if there ever was doubt in your mind about travelling, regardless of what it was - fear of leaving people behind, family/friends, fear of going it alone, etc .... what made you take the leap, keep the faith and go for it anyway?? - linzi x

I always pose the following question to myself:

"What will you end up regretting most; going or staying?"

That doesn't mean that I will always end up going, but it's a good question to ask yourself when you're not sure.

In all honesty? i went because i had nothing better to do! haha! it's funny cos i wasn't really THAT bothered about going until i actually got on the plane, but as soon as the jet lag wore off, i was buzzin about being so far from home!
if there's any doubt in your mind you should still go, because regardless of what you were thinking while you were at home, you'll have a great time once your out there! having regrets is the worst thing to be burdened with

i know what u mean, i went with travelling with my ex, and i was worried about if we split up while away, cos i'd be by myself and a LONG way from home. but once you're away you'll notice that about half the travellers are out there by themselves, and are 'on the same boat' as yourself

I agree with Mr. Gee here. If you think too much about it, you'll probably run out of time and wont be able to take the step. I've experienced it as well. There have been times when I backed out and times when I went. And the best ones were when I went. So there.

Traveling alone can sound a little OFF but I can tell you this. Its a wonderful experience. You might have gone somewhere with a friend but try going again, alone. You'll feel as if you're seeing it for the first time.

Hey!

I've had some doubts about going travelling solo, and definately agree with you about all those fears (leaving my family, my life, fear of feeling lonely on the road..) But it doesnt matter how much I think about those things... what remains clear to me is that I have to do this, there is no way I would forgive myself for not doing it!

So, my advise is: GO FOR IT!! What you have to keep in mind is if the worst come worst, you can always come back at anytime (money permitting, of course... )

Good luck!

Thanks Miromar for your wise words - even though deep inside I know the answer to my question - it's still a v scary thing to do - im so much a people person & get a kick out of sharing experiences with friends but I also know that there's a whole big world out there with lots of people doing the same thing - if i get lonley I can log onto TP and meet up with someone in the same area. This site seems to be a great tool if your a lonesome wanderer!;)
