Will traveling through Malaysia in January cause me many problems in regards to its monsoon. I have heard that you cant get to the majority of the islands. Will this be a problem?

Any help would be great!

yes,it is better to avoid those islands at the east coast.Maybe you can go to Langkawi, Pangkor or Penang Islands at the west coast....

Well, it's actually the majority of the BETTER islands because they are mostly on the east coast where the monsoon is. However, there are still a couple of nice ones on the west coast. Langkawi is pretty good and it'd a duty-free island (which means beers at very low prices - less than 50p per can of 325ml, if I remember correctly). Pangkor is not bad too. As for Penang, I'm told most of the nicer beaches are all occupied by resorts and hotels. So unless you're going to book a room at those places, I don't really recommend you going to the beach in Penang.
