me and a mate are flying in to brisbane on the 20th of may. we are heading north to noosa and then want to work our way down to sydney over a 6 week period. we want to spend at least a week in byron, but are a bit unsure where else to stop. we are looking for good surf and also good nightlife, we don't have alot of money so are also looking for cheap digs. any suggestions cheers owen
Australia in general is not a cheap place especially Sydney so I wouldn't waste much time in Sydney.
Fairly early on in your southward journey, you'll come across Surfers Paradise and that has great nightlife and if you stay in hostels, buy supermarket food etc it can be done at a reasonable rate (except in school holidays/easter/christmas when accommodation prices are double or even more than the normal price). Surfers Paradise has so many great things to do, a load of nightlife, many nice beaches and if you don't mind a bit of hot women watching, Main beach had plenty of them were bathing topless too. They have a lot of gorgeous women there who spend their life bludging on the beaches sunbaking. Surf is good as the name "surfers paradise" kind of suggests. Burleigh Heads a neighbouring suburb of Surfers Paradise (approx 18km from the CBD of Surfers Paradise) has a great surfing beach which hosts a surfing competition every year. People spend a week in Surfers Paradise, but seeing your budget probably wouldn't let you go to Movie World, Sea World, Dream World and Wet & Wild theme parks, a week would probably be too long for you.
If you went a little further north of Noosa you could go to Hervey Bay (to do a trip to Fraser Island). Hostels exist in Hervey Bay and arrange trips to Fraser Island, but on your budget unless things have changed since I was there a number of years ago, you wouldn't be able to spend long on Fraser Island due to your budget.
Have a great trip.
hey up owen.
Fingal Head just through tweed heads mate,,,,take a butchers down there not far from s/paradise,
sit at the lighthouse and there are two fantastic beaches north and south, all the surfures sit out there waiting for the big one, and the dolphins ride the waves too with them,
take a look mate.
