I am going to be in Europe for about 5 weeks during the summer. I am looking for the most convenient and cheapest way to communicate with my family and in particular girlfriend in the states. I am looking to buy an international sim card. Looking online the best deal i have found is Go-sim.com. does anyone have any experience with this company? Would it be better to purchase a card for an unlocked phone in the UK when i arrive?
Does anyone have any experience with a Skype phone? Are there enough wifi hot spots to make it worth while to buy/bring a Skype wireless phone?
I think the cheapest way would probably just be to buy calling cards when you are in Europe instead of using a mobile or Skype which I must say I didn't see much of (not that I was going out of my way to look). I usually relied on calling cards, msn and email.
this is probably ridiculous to ask, but what's a skype phone? i haven't heard the term before :S
From what i understand:Skype phones are wifi phones that have the skype program built in. These allows you to make calls to other skype users via wifi hotspots. Skype to Skype calls are also free.
Last Christmas when I went to Europe I used www.freeglobalsim.com. It was one of the better ones I looked at (not the cheapest but there was no connection fee and the sim was free with credit purchase).
If you go to http://www.prepaidgsm.net/en/international.html they have a whole list of international sim cards that they compare.
