Mel. seems we have the same concerns, I'm flying to Thailand on the 23rd and am "seriously" worried that I won't have any of the sun that I need so much right now

Well, I suppose, at least we're getting away, and Thailand I guess is Thailand even with the rain

Will be checking here to see if anyone posts a reply. Enjoy your trip. Where are you going?? and for how long?

Great having the weather reports :-)

Paul, when you get there, maybe you could post and tell us what the weather is like "in real life" ;)

Suppose the gulf is still the best bet right now for a bit of sun?

Hello Sole

I am flying into Bangkok. Then as soon as I shed the jet lag, I will go to Khao Sok, where I will spend most of my 30 days in Thailand. My 6 year old is comming with me, so I dont want to travel around too much. Too tiring and stressful. Better to find someplace with lots of places for her to swim, and look at monkeys and other wildlife.

hi Mel,

Sounds great, 30 days, would love to do that again ;) Your daughter will probably love it. I took my son to Asia for 3 months when he was 5½ and we both loved it, we had the greatest time and it was so easy travelling with him.

I've been thinking of Khao Sok as well, but still haven't made a decision. Was thinking of doing the 2-night trip: http://www.khaosok.net/index.html.

As I'm on my own and haven't got a lot of time, I'd like this time to plan as much as possible ahead. So many different reports on weather situation. Am looking at wunderground.com and within the last couple of hours temps have dropped from 32 deg C to 23 and from light rain to heavy thunderstorm in the Surat Thani region. So it is a bit worrying. A friend of mine came back from 12 days on Samui last week and their holiday sort of rained away ;)

Really need a week or so just to relax and get as much sun as possible and then finish the trip with a couple of days in Bangkok. So will wait another 3-4 days and then decide whether it's gonna be Samui or Samet or something different for the "sun"!

Hello Sole

I was also in Thailand, with my daughter last November.
She loved it, but unfortunately she is very demaning under even the best circumstances. When jet lag etc are added, she can be extremely wearing. Lucky for u, that your son was a bit easier. But this time around, I think by not moving around so much, I will get the rest I need, to cope with my daughers demands.

Do u like Koh Samui?
I was there, last November. I certainly think it is past its best. I havent been to Koh Samet, but it has to be better.

Let me know, if u go to Khoa Sok. We can have a coffee together, if u have time. Send a PM, because I dont know if I will be reading these forums, while I am in Thailand.

I dont fly until next week either. Maybe that tropical cyclone will have moved on, by then. Hopefully!!!!!

At least it is warm Beckish. I think, if it is warm, I wont mind the clouds too much.

Mel
