Second hand opinion, but a mate of mine just came back from seeing the gorillas in Rwanda, reckons it was the best experience she's had - she is well travelled, too.

I visited the Gorillas in Rwanda last October and agree one of the best experiences I've ever had! We were on a tour and started in Uganda but travelled to Rwanda virtually solely to see the Gorillas dunno if that means your chances are better in Rwanda?

The group we saw was the largest in the area with 35 gorillas including 5 silverbacks and loads of babies. We trekked up hill for 5 hrs to find them and was an amazing experience all round... you are going to love it!

Uganda has the biggest number of Gorillas than Rwanda.
I have tracked Gorillas in both countries and with Rwanda, they are easily accessed. In Uganda it aint easy to access them because of the thick forest, however if one ever wants to enjoy the tracking, Uganda should then be the place because you will walk in search for the primates which actually travellers should experience in order to enjoy the wild.....It's my preference other than finding things set; it won't be a memorable experience. So my dear the whole choice lies in you.....
cheers,

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]

Does somebody have any experience with gorilla trekking in the Democratic Republic of Congo? Is it safe over there in that area?

Also, what are the best options of flying to Rwanda or the area (not Nairobi). Kigali, Kampala? From where?

And what else is there to see and do besides seeing the gorillas. Are there any months when gorilla trekking is absolutely not possible?

Thanks! Michael

Hi,
Trying to keep this on top of the page, with another question: do I need to book a permit before I leave when wanting to visit the gorillas in Rwanda? Or do you reckon it is still possible to show up, maybe waiting a few days? Probably will be somewhere end of Feb, beginning of March, is this a good time?
Thanks....
Michael
