I was a happy commuter (if there are any) this morning on the train to London, when my eye caught the cover of a left newspaper that had a horredous picture showing the Cutty Sark (the last surviving tea-clipper) tottally burned down to ashes....

See it for yourselves

But what enfuriated me the most was the fact that the fire is being treated as "suspicious" by the authorities... which means that maybe someone could actually have done that intentionally... ISN'T THAT DISGUSTING??? who can find pleasure/benefit doing something like that??

Im still shocked, even though they say they might be able to repair it, but it will not be the same...

Ironically she survived over a centuries of dangerous sailing around the world to end up in flames in her home country...

Im having a "hate-those-people-wish-they-were-dead" day...

Anybody feeling the same about vandalism againts monuments?? or vandalism of any type??

Yes, it is a shame. But there was extensive renovation work going on so the masts and rigging weren't on board at the time. Still . . .

At the end of the day though, we can all get upset about it, but how many of us actually visited the Cutty Sark or even paid it any attention before this?

I did

And I took my mum and my grandparents with me

I also took my dad, but he decided that the pub in the corner was far more interesting

The point is, that even if you didnt visit inside it was a stunning view from the outside nevertheless... Hope they can save it and make it look slightly like before...

(and hope they can get their hands on the people who did it)
