Hi Everybody

Myself and my boyfriend come back from SE Asia on the 21st of December after 3 months. We thought that it would be good to come home for christmas but I'm wondering has anybody ever spent christams or New Years in Aisa, and would like to tell me what they thought of it?

Thanks

Clare

I have spent many Christmas and New Year in Thailand and it can be a great time depending on where you are. I love Christmas time. and being from the UK. I love all the decorations, the music and all the silly games.

The Thai's don't celebrate Christmas but they do like the idea of it and in places like Chiang Mai and Bangkok there are lots of Christmas partys, dinners and even Christmas trees and decorations in shopping malls. Although, if your used to cold days and snow then the sun, sand and noodles certainly takes some getting used to.

There are lots of expats in Thailand, and expat run restaurants so if you don't find the Thai's getting excited by Christmas then there are some good places to go. Also many hotels celebrate the occasion.

As for new years. Well the Thai's celebrate this pretty full on the same as many other countries. There are fireworks, all night party's, lots of drinking and of course the countdown at midnight. New year is great fun in Chiang Mai by the river, I hear Bangkok is great too. If not then there's always the beach party's in the south.
