I´m in Puno at the moment waiting for a bus to Tacna (should be in Bolivia but the idiots are having a strike and blockading the borders so i got stuck on the bus in some border town hellhole for nearly 2 days).
Anyway i will arrive in Tacna overnight about 4 or 5am. Is it worth staying overnight to get some rest and see the town or just staying at the bus station to wait for a connection to Arica? If so can anyone recommend somewhere to stay in Tacna?
Don´t know if you will get a chance to answer b4 i leave but its worth a shot. Cheers guys.

Unless you have some reason to stay in Tacna, I would just keep going. It's not much further to get to Arica, though you may have to wait until the border opens at 6 of 7 (I've heard a couple different opening times). Once across the border its only another 12km to Arica.
Once in Arica I would highly recomend staying at Sunny Days Hostel. It was probably the best hostel I've ever stayed at. Sorry, can't help you with accomidation in Tacna if you choose to stay there.
If I had to choose between staying in Tacna or Arica, I definitely I would choose Arica. It is very nice and quiet. There are many hostels in base of the hill. I was last year in a hotel called "Raiza" ( I do not remember the exact name) near crossroad Sotomayor-San Martín.
In Tacna I would recommend Hotel "Hospedaje el Sol" near main place, in direction to "Arco Parabólico".
