That's what I wanted to say, but I see it turned out not so well, when I read it back: I wanted to say, that the way the Airline deals with their passengers, is their concern, even is somebody else makes the actual mistake.

I have a friend, and she had her lugage lost in Madrid, when returning from a family visit around Christmas. Iberia, paid her 75 euros a day, to the buy the things she needed (clothes, etc), and the damage done at the bag. (bag got stuck in Madrid.) She lived here temporary, but never the less they brought the bag to her temporary residence. She had to wait pretty long for the money, but in the end it all worked out.

That doesn't surprise me. I have been flying via Madrid 3 times now and every time I saw pieces of luggage just on the ground outside, fallen of the car...and really now one that picks it up. Every time.....!

The best airline I have flown with is Emirates, everything was done as it should be and the entertainment was brilliant!

I did not know if they lose your luggage they send it to your permanent address! It means if I am going from Brazil to UK for two months and they lose my luggage in Amsterdam, they will send it back to Brazil?!?

I would never, ever recommend Gulf Air, based on my current experience:

I had a return Sydney - London ticket booked with Gulf Air - I paid for the ticket in full over a year ago, and confirmed the flight in November last year, for August this year. Recently they've suspended their services to Sydney as part of corporate restructuring
(http://www.gulfairtravelupdate.com/gfupdate/newsdisplay.asp?newsid=91) and I got an email from my travel agent Sydney advising me to call their London office and arrange to be moved to another carrier.

So, fair enough. That was a nearly a month ago though, and since then I've called the office 4 times (after they were initially going to call me back and didn't) and been told each time that the request is still pending and can I call back again next week. Which is fine, but I can't get a straight answer about when the flight will be confirmed, who it might be with, why it's taking so long or anything, really, other than "call back next week."

Anyway, I tried sending through a complaint via their website and didn't hear anything back, and my travel agent won't do anything either. And I rang them yesterday, and got told it would be sorted out today. I rang back today and got asked to call them back next week. ARRGGGHG!

I just need a date and a flight number, you know? It's not like I didn't pay for the thing a year ago.

My best airlines would be Singapore airlines and Qantas. Good service and In flight entertainments are quite good. I have hardly had any problems with any other airlines to say the least. Even most of the budget airlines in europe live up to the standard they have set. I think they have to, to survive. In 2 weeks I will be flying to London with Qatar airways, hopefully it's going to be ok, because it's my first time I fly with them. Any experience with them anyone?

Flown with Malaysia Airlines and KLM long haul and i thought they were both great. Nice amount of room, good entertainment systems......especially Malaysian airlines for having Mario...i played it for about 20 hours i swear! Amazing food. (especially Malaysian airlines again stiks out)

A carrier that im not fond of is a uk budget airline which i used regularly to hop to spain and back. BMI baby. Their staff are so obnoxious and full of crap . I use thomsonfly now they are so much nicer and cheaper!

Snowy77...here goes...

I had a horrible nightmare with Qatar Airways recently when I flew Moscow-Kuala Lumpur connecting at Doha, Qatar.

First of all, the ground staff in Doha were rude and their conduct were absolutely appalling and I'm speaking from first hand experience.

I had no problems boarding the flight from Moscow to Doha and my connecting flight from Doha to KL was confirmed at the Moscow airport itself with boarding pass for the Doha to KL sector issued to me in Moscow.

So boarded the flight and reached Doha at about 8.00 p.m. and my connecting flight to KL was at 11.20 p.m. Immediately after I reached Doha, I had gone to the transfer desk to re-confirm as to whether the boarding pass for the Doha to KL sector issued to me in Moscow was alright to go and I was given the confirmation.

During boarding, when I reached the departure gate, I was requested to go back down to the transfer desk to and the reason given to me was that I needed to change my boarding pass. This was 20 minutes before scheduled take off.

So to the transfer desk I went. Ground crew absolutely ignored me, I was in panic mode cos flight was about to leave (there were about 10 other passengers in the same situation). Tried catching every single ground staff's attention, everyone ignored me even when I was screaming and cursing my lungs out.

So then I had obviously missed my flight. Then, some finally came to tell us that the flight was overbooked and that we've be bumped off the flight. That was the end, no solution or alternative was given. On hindsight, I gather that we were not attended to by the ground staff until the flight has taken off was a ploy. The idea was not to get us onto the flight!

I was asked to wait around until the come up with alternatives. By the time they gave us alternatives, it was already 3.00 a.m. The ground staff manager was chicken shit to even come out to explain the situation.

So we were taken to a hotel for the night (or whatever that's left or it) until our next flight out. According to the hotel staff (who has an arrangement with Qatar Airways), this happens every single day, they overbook their flights and if there are not enough seats, you if you're the lucky one, will be denied boarding.

What was disturbing was that I already had my boarding pass in Moscow itself. Other passengers who were also bumped off the flight had confirmed their flights 3 days before.

I know if this happens in the EU, the IATA has directives to say that certain amount of compensation is to be paid by the airline regardless of whether accommodation or the next flight out is arranged.

I've made a complaint to Qatar Airways on denying me boarding but I've never heard a single fly's fart from them until now...

So, you guys make your own conclusions as to which is the worse airline around. And apologise for the long rambling...it's obvious that I'm still sore about the fact that I've been bumped off the flight
