more then enough. personally I would travel with an average of about 100 british pounds a week through these countries. singapore excluded though. prices there are, I hear, pretty western.

I spent £300 in a month in Malaysia, and Thailand is cheaper than that (although singapore is more expensive), so you should easily have enough on your budget.

hi dan thai beer is the cheapest to buy and is normally about 60 - 80 baht per bottle, some places sell liter bottles of chang beer which can be 80 baht a bargain. so £1 per bottle as a very rough guide. anything other than thai beer get more expensive (exept thai wiskey can be very cheap but approach with caution lol)

Regarding costs of Thailand, we are here now and prices have gone up massively since the same period last year. It depends on where you go but 15 quid a day will not get you very far in most tourist resorts even staying in cheap accommodation, eating at street vendors and limiting yourself to 3 Singhas or Changs a night. Beer on average (we have been all over Thailand and this hasn't changed) is 60-100 baht for a small bottle, this is roughly 90p to 1.50p a bottle. Accommodation in a small guesthouse with bed and fan (reasonably clean) and shared toilet is around 200-500 baht depending on the season and where you visit.

BUT...the main spend of your trip in Thailand will be if you like to drink more than 2 or 3 bottles of beer a night as alcohol is comparable in price to most parts of the UK (SE region excluded).

We just got back from Malaysia (Langkawi, Penang and KL) and found we spent a lot less there than Thailand. Langkawi for example is a duty-free island and you can get a litre bottle of Stolichnaya or Smirnoff for 3 quid ($6US). Food can be cheaper and accomodation reasonable!

And dont even get us started on how bad Thailands beaches look nowadays compared to other countries we've visited!!!

When I was in Thailand, I planned on living on about £17 a day. It's possible to get a place to stay, and eat ok on this, but it won't really cover you going out for a few drinks/day trips which are always great.

Nor will you be able to buy any souvenirs.

I thought I wouldn't go out for drinks very often, but how wrong I was! at least every other night I would be meeting people, and then going for a night out with them. And it's nice to be able to get a round in every so often!
