Travel Forums Asia Evidence of FINANCES?

Hi,
I am arriving in Thailand next month and I have read several places that Evidence of adequate finances needs to be shown on arrival, how do people usually go about doing this?

I already have my multiple entry tourist visa and I am planning on taking both my debit card and travellers cheques.

Thanks,
Jonny.

Hi,

I have been to Thailand several times and have never been asked to show evidence of finances, and i have never actually heard of anyone being asked.

Like the other posters, I have been to Thailand many times and have never been asked to show that I have any money at all.

I do have cash, travelers checks, credit and debit cards - but I have never been asked to show anything!

What's the problem, you do have money to support yourself during your stay - right?

The only time I have noticed that the immigration officials ever grill anyone is when people come from countries like China or Sri Lanka that may want to stay in Thailand and not return home at all!

Jonny,
Relax and don't stress on this. Thai IMM. will not check a UK citizen that has a visa and looks half way respectable. It also states you need a return ticket, but they do not check that either. Everything concerning Imm. is at the discretion of the Thai officer. Dress appropriately, be polite and you will sail right through.

Have a great time in Thailand.
